Has anyone managed to get the s-video out to work properly? Here are the problems i'm having:
1. Can't just have display on TV only
2. Can't get the 4:3 aspect ratio on the TV (the sides of the movie is missing)
Apart from that it works. |

I had real problems with TV out on my P5010 until I figured out the exact order in which to do things. Note that the keyboard hotkey to switch back and forth doesn't work very well.
1) Plug S-Video cable into notebook and TV.
2) Load up the Intel Extreme control panel.
3) You should see various options on the left - Notebook, TV, Duplicated, Multi-Monitor. If you do not, reboot the machine with the cable connected and try again.
4) Select the "TV" option then click "APPLY" (defaut 1024x768 & NTSC options should be fine). The picture should disappear from the notebook and appear on the TV in the 4:3 resolution of 1024x768.
5) When done, use the keyboard hotkey (I think I have to press it twice) to switch back to notebook display.
Perhaps this has changed on the P7010, but I doubt it... |

Glad it worked. I now see that you're in Australia, so I guess your computer will show PAL.
The TV-out port is only detected when the cable is actually plugged into a TV. And, most of the time, the computer doesn't bother to look for the new device until you load up the Intel Extreme utility (since I use this alot I created a shortcut on the desktop for it).
And, just having used it, only hit the hotkey once to leave TV display mode. I don't know if Intel fixed it, but on the driver/utility version I'm using the utility doesn't offer the P's widescreen resolution under "notebook" mode, so it can't be used to switch back (well, unless you feel like having to change resolutions again). |

By the way, there is a keyboard shortcut to open up the Intel Extreme Graphics Controller: <CTRL><ALT><F12>

I believe you only have to configure intel extreme graphics the first time using s-video out. The option i picked was 'dual monitor support' or something like that. Once you do that, you shouldn't be needing configure again (P7k notebook, Panasonic 42" widescreen HDTV monitor, 1028 x 768, Yamaha 100x7w receiver, giant Klipsch reference series RF7 etc ... its lot of fun)

Haven't found a way to do that, black and white on my TV so I'm assuming it's NTSC coming out (I can get NTSC 4.43) or...my cable is bad :-( |

I am able to get the screen on the TV, but there is no sound...
Where do i turn on the sound?

er...s-video is ONLY video, sound requires another cable ;-)
So I was able to get this to work, with the s-video cable plugged in do CTRL+ALT+F12 and then select the type of signal you want to output, NTSC/PAL, etc.. works quite nicely! |
